You Are More Than a Symptom

There are moments when a person does not need another instruction to push harder, another reminder to be productive, or another place telling them what they should be doing.

Sometimes, you need to be heard.

Sometimes, you need a safe place to exhale.

Sometimes, you need another mother to say, "I understand."

Sometimes, you need childcare so you can sit quietly for an hour.

Sometimes, you need a physician, nurse, therapist, midwife, or other licensed healthcare professional.

Sometimes, you need a massage, movement, acupuncture, herbal tradition, nourishing tea, time in nature, prayer, meditation, or simply permission to be still.

And sometimes, you need several forms of support at once.

L.I.F.T. Philanthropies exists in recognition of that whole human need.

We believe restoration is personal. There is no single practice, practitioner, tradition, product, or philosophy that is appropriate for every person.

Our community brings together mothers, caregivers, children and families, childcare providers, wellness educators, healthcare specialists, licensed practitioners, healers, holistic practitioners, traditional wellness practitioners, herbalists, tea practitioners, Chinese medicine practitioners, movement professionals, spiritual practitioners, community leaders, and other individuals whose work may contribute to a person's experience of well-being.

Our purpose is to create space for people to encounter resources, relationships, education, and restorative experiences with discernment.

THIS IS A WELLNESS COMMUNITY, NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR HEALTHCARE

L.I.F.T. Philanthropies is a wellness-focused social enterprise.

We provide educational resources, community programming, restorative experiences, products, gatherings, and opportunities for connection.

Unless specifically identified otherwise, L.I.F.T. is not providing medical, mental-health, nursing, nutritional, therapeutic, diagnostic, or other licensed healthcare services.

Nothing on this website or within the L.I.F.T. community should be interpreted as:

A medical diagnosis

Medical treatment

Mental-health treatment

A prescription

A substitute for professional healthcare

A guarantee of healing

A guarantee of a particular health outcome

Individualized medical advice

Information shared through L.I.F.T. is intended for general education, personal reflection, wellness, and community connection.

YOUR BODY, YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES, YOUR DECISION

Your body belongs to you.

Your health history belongs to you.

Your decisions belong to you.

L.I.F.T. does not tell you what treatment, practitioner, tradition, supplement, herb, food, movement practice, spiritual practice, or wellness service you must choose.

Different people may respond differently to the same practice.

A practice that feels supportive to one person may be inappropriate for another.

Before beginning a new wellness practice, particularly one involving physical activity, herbs, supplements, fasting, dietary changes, bodywork, acupuncture, traditional medicine, pregnancy, postpartum recovery, medications, or an existing health condition, consider speaking with an appropriately qualified healthcare professional who understands your individual circumstances.

A COMMUNITY OF MANY FORMS OF CARE

L.I.F.T. may create opportunities for community members to encounter people working across different fields and traditions.

These may include:

Healthcare specialists

Licensed healthcare professionals may provide information or services within their professional scope and applicable laws.

Childcare providers

Childcare professionals may support parents by helping create the practical space necessary for a mother or caregiver to participate in restorative activities.

Holistic practitioners

Practitioners may offer non-medical wellness practices, education, or experiences intended to support relaxation, reflection, or personal well-being.

Chinese medicine practitioners

Qualified practitioners may share approaches associated with Chinese medicine, acupuncture, herbal traditions, or related practices within the scope of their training, credentials, and applicable law.

Herbalists

Herbal practitioners may provide education about traditional or contemporary uses of plants and herbs. Herbal information does not automatically establish that an herb is appropriate, safe, or effective for a particular person.

Tea practitioners and educators

Tea may be presented as a cultural, sensory, contemplative, or wellness experience. Tea is not represented as medical treatment.

Healers and spiritual practitioners

Individuals may share spiritual, cultural, contemplative, ceremonial, or traditional practices. Participation is voluntary and should be approached according to the individual's own beliefs, boundaries, and discernment.

Movement and body-based practitioners

Qualified practitioners may facilitate movement, stretching, relaxation, body awareness, or other practices within their training and applicable professional requirements.

The presence of a practitioner, speaker, organization, product, or tradition within a L.I.F.T. program does not by itself constitute an endorsement, medical recommendation, or guarantee by L.I.F.T.

TRADITION DESERVES CONTEXT AND RESPECT

L.I.F.T. recognizes that wellness traditions come from many cultures, communities, and lineages.

Traditional practices may carry generations of knowledge, cultural meaning, spiritual significance, and lived experience.

We seek to approach these traditions respectfully rather than presenting them as interchangeable, universal, or medically equivalent.

Practitioners remain responsible for accurately representing their training, credentials, cultural relationship to a practice, and scope of practice.

Participants remain free to ask questions, decline participation, establish boundaries, and make their own informed decisions.

HERBS, TEAS, SUPPLEMENTS, AND NATURAL PRODUCTS

"Natural" does not automatically mean "safe."

Herbs, teas, essential oils, supplements, botanicals, and other natural products may interact with medications or may not be appropriate for individuals who are pregnant, breastfeeding, preparing for surgery, managing a medical condition, or taking prescription or over-the-counter medications.

L.I.F.T. does not guarantee the safety, effectiveness, purity, dosage, or suitability of any herb, tea, supplement, botanical, or wellness product merely because it is presented within a wellness setting.

Do not discontinue prescribed medication or replace professional medical treatment with an herbal or natural product based on information obtained through L.I.F.T.

MOTHERS DO NOT HAVE TO CHOOSE BETWEEN CARE AND COMMUNITY

L.I.F.T. recognizes something that can be difficult to say aloud:

A mother can love her children completely and still be exhausted.

She can be grateful and still need help.

She can be strong and still need somewhere to put the weight down.

She can pray and still need a doctor.

She can see a therapist and still need community.

She can receive medical care and still want meditation, tea, nature, movement, cultural tradition, or spiritual practice.

She can need childcare before she can even begin to think about herself.

These realities do not contradict one another.

L.I.F.T. is built around the understanding that human well-being can involve physical, emotional, social, spiritual, cultural, environmental, and practical dimensions.

We do not reduce a person's needs to a single category.

THE L.I.F.T. COMMUNITY DOES NOT REPLACE YOUR CARE TEAM

L.I.F.T. may complement a person's existing support system.

It does not replace:

A primary-care physician

A specialist

A licensed mental-health professional

A midwife or obstetric provider

A pediatrician

A pharmacist

A registered dietitian

An emergency department

Emergency medical services

Any other professional or service required for an individual's circumstances

When professional medical or mental-health care is needed, seek it.

When an emergency is occurring, call 911 or seek immediate emergency medical attention.

PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIALS MATTER

Individuals participating in L.I.F.T. programming are responsible for accurately representing their education, training, licenses, certifications, credentials, and scope of practice.

L.I.F.T. does not represent that every person participating in a community event is a licensed healthcare professional.

Where professional licensure is required by law, services should be provided by appropriately licensed individuals.

Participants should verify credentials when credentials are relevant to the service being offered.

NO GUARANTEED OUTCOMES

L.I.F.T. does not promise that a particular product, practice, practitioner, event, retreat, meditation, tea, herb, treatment, or wellness experience will produce a particular physical, emotional, spiritual, or other outcome.

Personal experiences vary.

Wellness is not a guaranteed result.

INFORMED PARTICIPATION

Participation in L.I.F.T. activities is voluntary.

You have the right to:

Ask questions

Request clarification

Decline an activity

Stop participating

Establish physical and emotional boundaries

Tell a practitioner when something does not feel appropriate

Seek another professional opinion

Consult your healthcare provider

Leave an activity or event

You do not owe anyone participation simply because an activity has been presented as beneficial.

FOR PREGNANT, POSTPARTUM, AND BREASTFEEDING PARTICIPANTS

L.I.F.T. recognizes that pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum recovery, and breastfeeding can involve significant physical and emotional changes.

Because individual circumstances differ, participants who are pregnant, recently postpartum, breastfeeding, recovering from childbirth, taking medication, or managing a health condition should obtain individualized guidance from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional before participating in activities or using products that could affect their health.

L.I.F.T. does not determine whether a particular activity is medically appropriate for an individual.

FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES

L.I.F.T. may include family-centered programming and may feature children in authorized photographs, videos, educational activities, or community events.

Parents and legal guardians remain responsible for decisions concerning their children.

L.I.F.T. does not provide medical care to children through general wellness programming.

Parents and guardians should obtain appropriate professional guidance regarding their child's health, nutrition, medications, development, or other medical needs.

PRIVACY AND PERSONAL STORIES

Healing and restoration can involve deeply personal stories.

You are not required to disclose private medical, emotional, family, financial, or personal information to participate in the L.I.F.T. community.

Please use discretion when sharing sensitive information during public events, online communities, social media, surveys, or group discussions.

L.I.F.T.'s collection and use of personal information is governed by its Privacy Policy.

COMMUNITY CARE IS NOT THE SAME AS PROFESSIONAL CARE

There is profound value in someone sitting beside you and saying:

"I hear you."

But community support has limits.

A mother's story can help another mother feel less alone without becoming medical advice.

A cup of tea can create a moment of peace without becoming medicine.

A healer can offer a meaningful spiritual experience without replacing a physician.

A childcare provider can give a mother the time to breathe without becoming her healthcare provider.

A healthcare professional can provide clinical care without being responsible for every dimension of a person's life.

L.I.F.T. makes room for these distinctions.

We believe care becomes stronger when we are honest about what each person, practice, and profession can and cannot provide.

OUR COMMITMENT

L.I.F.T. seeks to build a community where mothers and caregivers can encounter care without shame, information without coercion, tradition without appropriation, wellness without false promises, and community without judgment.

We believe restoration should not require pretending that everything is fine.

We believe asking for help is not a failure of strength.

We believe professional care and community care can exist alongside one another.

We believe rest can be meaningful without being a cure.

And we believe every person deserves the dignity of making informed decisions about their own body, their own family, their own beliefs, and their own path toward well-being.

L.I.F.T. does not promise to heal you.

We promise to make room for you as a whole person while respecting the boundaries of wellness, professional care, personal choice, and human dignity.
